Games like Heardle: daily song guessing games

Heardle asked you to name a song from its opening seconds, with a longer clip after every miss. Several daily games still work exactly like that, and others name the song from a different clue: the band one instrument at a time, the lyrics, the video, or the year it came out.

The games

The games closest to the original keep the growing intro clip. Heardle Daily and Reheardle play the first seconds of a popular song and add more with each wrong guess, Songless starts from a tenth of a second, and Heardle Decades runs a whole family of these sorted by decade, chart, genre and artist. Swiftle does it for Taylor Swift and Zelda Heardle for Nintendo's soundtracks.

A second group changes the clue. Bandle brings the band in one instrument at a time, starting with the drums. Lyricle reveals the lyrics a line at a time, Musicvidle shows stills from the music video, Strumdle scrolls a Guitar Hero style note chart, and Sampledle plays the original sample and asks which hit used it.

If you would rather think about the music than recognise it, Music Timeliner and Timdle's music mode ask you to place songs on a timeline by release year, Spotle hides an artist and compares each guess on debut year, popularity and genre, and Harmonies sorts sixteen music tiles into four groups like Connections. Ear-training games such as Perfect Pitch Puzzle and Musoplay ask you to name or play back the notes themselves.

Start with Heardle Daily or Reheardle if you miss the original, Bandle if you want a fresh way to hear a song, and Spotle if you know artists better than intros.
