Musicle Royale

A Musicle album card for Here, My Dear by Marvin Gaye with the My guess button

Musicle is a daily music guessing game about albums. You play a short sample of a track and choose its album from four covers, three albums a day. Over twenty flavours cover decades, genres, K-pop, film and game music, and a Royale mode asks you to match six samples to nine albums without a mistake.

About Musicle

Musicle is a browser game about recognising records, credited on the site to @adrianosbr, with samples and album data from the Apple Music API. Its daily count started in February 2022, and it plays in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

The game comes in flavours, each with its own daily set: Pop, Rock, Hip Hople, R&B, Metalhead, Jazzle, Classicle, the 60s through the 2000s, Hit Parade, Easy Radio, K-Pop, Brasil, Euro Contest, Movie Magic, Gamer and Retrogamer for game music, World Atlas for national anthems, Liverpool for one famous band, and 1001 for albums from the well known list of records to hear. In the regular mode each flavour has three secret albums a day. You play a sample of one track, look at four album covers, tap one to see its title and artist, and lock in your guess. Get it right or wrong and the next album opens in the following column.

Royale is the harder daily mode: nine album covers, six samples, and you must pick out the albums you heard without a single wrong tap. A Challenge Mode cuts every sample down to a few seconds. Afterwards the history page lists the tracks of the last two weeks with links to Apple Music, and you can join the Musicle League, anonymously or with a Twitter account, to have your hits counted in weekly rankings by flavour and country.

Most daily music games ask you to name a single song. Musicle asks which album a track comes from and gives you choices, so it rewards people who know records as whole albums and their cover art. With so many flavours, you can play several a day. It is free with ads, and a one-time payment removes them on one device.

How to play Musicle

  1. Choose a flavour on the home page, such as Pop, Jazzle or The 80s.
  2. Press play to hear a sample of a track.
  3. Tap an album cover to see it larger with its title and artist.
  4. Tap My guess on the album you think the track comes from.
  5. Repeat for the second and third albums of the day, then share your result or try another flavour.

Tips

  • Album covers carry clues: the era of the design often matches the sound of the sample.
  • Turn on Challenge Mode once the normal samples feel easy; the clips become only a few seconds long.
  • In Royale, play all six samples before tapping anything, since one wrong tap ends the round.
  • Use the history page to look up tracks you missed; the same artists come back in a flavour.
