BopMatch
Match each target artist with one who is just as popular.
Every day: Five target artists a day, the same for everyone: for each one you name another artist you think is about as popular on Spotify, and the closer the two popularity scores, the more points you get over the five rounds. Past days can be played too. New puzzle: 8 PM Eastern Time (the site says new rounds come every day at 8PM EST; new sets are dated at midnight UTC).

BopMatch gives you five artists a day and asks you to pick, for each, another artist with a similar Spotify popularity score. Each round is scored by how close you land, and the five rounds add up to the day's total. An account is optional and only keeps your scores.
About BopMatch
BopMatch is a music trivia game about popularity rather than songs. Each round shows a Target Artist. Your job is to search for and pick a Guess Artist who you think is about as popular, measured by the popularity score Spotify gives every artist. The game links to a guide that explains how that score works.
Scoring is simple. Each round is worth up to 100 points, and you lose 5 points for every point of difference between the two artists' popularity scores. Pick an artist exactly as popular as the target and you get the full 100; miss by 20 points and you get nothing for that round. A day has five rounds, and the total out of 500 is your score.
A new set of five Target Artists arrives every day; the site says the new rounds go up at 8 PM Eastern. You can play without an account, and signing up only stores your scores. Logged-in players also get a Past Games page for earlier days.
The game rewards people who follow charts and streaming numbers: knowing that a band is big is not enough, you need a feel for how big. A target from a niche genre calls for an equally niche match, and a global star needs another global star.
How to play BopMatch
- Open BopMatch and start the day's game to see the first Target Artist.
- Search for an artist you think has a similar Spotify popularity score and select them.
- See both scores: the round is worth 100 points minus 5 for each point of difference.
- Play all five rounds and try to get the highest total you can.
- Come back the next day for a new set of five targets, or play past games.

Tips
- Think in tiers: a global headliner, a big genre act and a cult favourite each need a match from the same tier.
- Recent releases and viral moments push scores up, so an artist with a current hit is likely more popular than their fame suggests.
- Old acts that are still streamed heavily often score higher than newer artists who are less played.
- If unsure, pick an artist you know is close in streams to the target rather than one in the same genre.
