TempoTuner
Tap a famous song's beat from memory and see how close you get to its real tempo.
Every day: One well-known song a day, numbered and the same for everyone: tap its beat from memory and score up to 100 by how close your tempo is to the song's real BPM, with a daily leaderboard. New puzzle: Midnight in your local time zone, by the game's code.

TempoTuner is a free tap-tempo trainer with a daily challenge. Each day it names one well-known song; you play it in your head, tap along, and get a score out of 100 for how close your tempo was to the record's real BPM. Scores go on a daily leaderboard and build a streak.
About TempoTuner
TempoTuner is a browser tool for checking how steady your timing is: you tap the screen while you sing or play, and it graphs your tempo beat by beat. On top of the practice tools sits a daily challenge, numbered from its first day in July 2026, that turns it into a small daily game.
Each day the challenge names one song, such as Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by Eurythmics, and the same song is set for every player. You do not hear it first. You recall it, tap its beat, and the game takes the middle value of your taps as your guess. The score starts from 100 and drops with every percent you are off the real tempo; tapping at half or double time is accepted. Uneven tapping costs a few extra points, so a steady pulse matters as well as the right speed. After you tap you can hear a preview of the song and see your graph against the target.
Your result goes on the day's leaderboard, and a calendar shows which days you played, missed or caught up on later. You can challenge a friend with a link and share an image of your graph. It is free, needs no account and keeps your taps on your device. It suits singers, drummers and anyone curious how good their sense of tempo is.
How to play TempoTuner
- Open tempotuner.app and read the name of today's song.
- Play the song in your head, or sing it quietly, until you have its pulse.
- Tap anywhere on the screen in time with the beat for several bars.
- See your tempo, the song's real BPM and your score out of 100, then listen to the preview to compare.
- Share your result or check the day's leaderboard, and come back tomorrow to keep your streak.
Tips
- Start from the chorus or the drum part you remember most clearly, not the intro.
- Tap for longer rather than shorter: the game uses the middle of your taps, so a few stray ones matter less.
- Keep the taps even; wobble costs points even when the average is right.
- Half time or double time counts, so tap whichever feels natural.
Questions
When does the TempoTuner daily change?
At midnight on your own device's clock. Each day has a number and the same song for everyone.
How is it scored?
Out of 100. You lose points for every percent your tempo is away from the song's real BPM, and a few more if your taps are uneven. Half and double time are accepted.
Is TempoTuner free?
Yes. It runs in the browser with no account, and the site says your taps stay on your device.
Can I play days I missed?
Yes. A calendar lists past daily songs; a day played late is marked as such.
