Year To Beat
Watch the day's five music videos and guess the year each came out.
Every day: Five music videos a day, the same for everyone: guess the year each was released, scored up to 1,000 points a song, with a daily leaderboard. New puzzle: Midnight UTC (the site counts down to the next UTC day).

Year To Beat plays you five music videos a day and asks the release year of each. Every year off costs points, but even a guess 30 years out scores something, and the day's total goes on a leaderboard. The songs are the same for everyone, and no account is needed.
About Year To Beat
Year To Beat is a daily music game about release years. Each numbered challenge holds five songs, played as their music videos. You watch and listen, then type the year you think the song came out on an on-screen keypad.
Each song is worth up to 1,000 points. The score falls smoothly the further your guess is from the real year, so a near miss still earns most of the points and even a guess 30 years off earns a little. After each round the game shows your guess against the release year; after the fifth you see your total, your rank on the day's leaderboard and a share line with your result for each song.
The daily is free and needs no account. Logging in keeps a display name on the leaderboard, and past challenges sit in an archive that is unlocked by payment. If YouTube will not play a video in the page, the game offers to open it on YouTube instead.
It suits players of Songle (Histordle) or Timdle Music who like dating songs, and anyone who knows the sound of a decade better than song titles.
How to play Year To Beat
- Open yeartobeat.com and start the day's challenge.
- Watch and listen to the first music video.
- Type the year you think it was released and press Enter.
- See how far off you were and the points you scored.
- Do the same for all five songs, then check your total and rank.
Tips
- Production gives the decade away: drum machines, gated reverb and Auto-Tune each belong to an era.
- Video quality and aspect ratio narrow down the years when the song itself is unfamiliar.
- Every year counts, so a careful guess near the middle of your range beats a bold exact guess.
