Music Timeliner
Listen to eight songs and put them in order of release on a timeline.
Every day: One set of eight songs a day, the same for everyone: you hear each one and place it on a timeline by release date, starting from a single song already in place. New puzzle: Midnight in your own time zone (the game schedules the next set for local midnight).

Music Timeliner is a daily timeline game for songs. Each day you get eight tracks to play one at a time and slot into a growing timeline by the year they came out, with a streak and a score for how many you placed right. You can also build a custom timeline to share.
About Music Timeliner
Music Timeliner, from the small studio Steady Koalas, turns the party card game idea of sorting songs by release date into a daily puzzle. Each day there are eight songs. You play a short preview of each one and drop it into the timeline where you think it belongs, earlier or later than the songs already placed.
The skill is a feel for eras: the sound of a drum machine, the way vocals were produced, the style of a guitar riff. You do not need to name the song, only to date it relative to the others. If a song means nothing to you, you can skip it, but only once per game. Previews come from Deezer, and a few songs have no preview available.
A Hard Mode setting hides the years until the game ends, so you cannot use the dates of songs already placed as anchors. It has to be chosen before you start. At the end you get a score and a share card, and your streak is kept on your device.
Beyond the daily set there is a builder for custom timelines: search for songs or artists, choose your own order and send the link to friends. The game restarted its daily numbering at one point, clearing old streaks; old scores can still be viewed on the device that played them.
How to play Music Timeliner
- Open today's game; one song is already on the timeline.
- Play the preview of the next song.
- Drag or drop it into the timeline before or after the songs already placed, by release date.
- Repeat for all eight songs, using your one skip if a song stumps you.
- See your score at the end and share it, or build a custom timeline.
Tips
- Listen to production as much as melody: reverb, drum sounds and synths date a record quickly.
- Place the songs you are sure of carefully; they become anchors for the rest.
- Save the skip for a song you really cannot place, since you only get one.
- Try Hard Mode once you are comfortable; it removes the dates as a crutch.
