EraPin
Five photos from history a day: pin where it happened and set the year.
Every day: A new dossier of five historical photographs each day, the same for every player: pin where each event happened and set the year. New puzzle: Midnight in your local time zone (the game asks for the day's rounds by your device's date).

EraPin shows you a real historical photograph with a written clue and asks you to place it on a world map and on a timeline. Each day's dossier has five rounds, worth up to 5,000 points each. Hints show the modern city or a parallel event from the same year, at a cost in points.
About EraPin
EraPin is a daily where-and-when game built on historical events. Each round shows a photograph from Wikipedia along with a short description of the event and an era clue, a hint about the technology or culture of the decade, without naming the city or the year.
You open the world map and drop a pin, searching for a city or tapping directly, then set the year with a slider or by typing it. Location and year are each worth up to 2,500 points, so a round is worth 5,000 and a full day of five rounds 25,000. Two hints are on offer: a Street View of the modern city for 500 points and a parallel event from the same year for 750. After each round the real place and year are revealed with a link to read more.
The daily dossier is the same for everyone on a given date. Your streak is kept in the browser, and a player code lets you restore it on another device. The same site runs a classroom mode where teachers pick packs of events by period or topic and students join with a room code, which is separate from the daily.
It suits players of WhenTaken and TimeGuessr who like to reason from clues as well as from the picture, since every round comes with written evidence.
How to play EraPin
- Open erapin.com and start today's dossier.
- Study the photo, the event description and the era clue.
- Tap Pin, then search for a city or tap the map, and confirm your location.
- Set the year with the slider or type it in, and submit.
- Take a hint if you need one: the modern city view costs 500 points, a same-year event costs 750.
- Play all five rounds and compare your total out of 25,000.
Tips
- Read the era clue closely: it names the technology or culture of the decade.
- Vehicles, clothing and the coastline in the photo narrow both the place and the date.
- The year hint costs more than the city hint, so try the city view first if you are unsure of both.
- Save your player code if you play on more than one device, so your streak follows you.
