NEARISH

NEARISH card: a target of coloured rings, the name NEARISH, How close can you get?, a row of five coloured squares and 5 questions, 5 estimates, 500 points

NEARISH is a free daily estimation game. Each numbered puzzle has five questions, how far, how many, how big, and you type your best guess on a number pad. Every answer is worth up to 100 points depending on how close you get, for 500 in all.

About NEARISH

NEARISH asks one question five times a day: how close can you get? Each question comes with a topic label, such as sports, and asks for a number, for example how many lengths of an Olympic pool make up the 1,500-meter freestyle. You type your estimate on an on-screen number pad, with quick buttons for thousand, million, billion and trillion, and lock it in.

Scoring rewards closeness rather than exact answers. Each of the five questions is worth up to 100 points, so a full game is out of 500, and the game's card shows a result as a row of five coloured squares.

A new NEARISH is numbered and dated, with a countdown on the home page to the next one. It is free with no sign-up, and a Past answers page lists earlier days' answers.
