Strumdle is a daily song guessing game built on Guitar Hero note charts. A chart scrolls down the highway with simulated guitar sounds, and you type the song it belongs to. Each wrong guess lets the chart play two seconds longer, and you have six attempts.

About Strumdle

Strumdle is a daily guessing game inspired by Guitar Hero. In place of a song clip you get the note chart: coloured notes scrolling down a highway, as you would see them in the game. You have to recognise the song from the rhythm and shape of the guitar part.

Press play to watch the chart. The guitar sounds are simulated and the other instruments are synthesized too, so no audio from the original recordings or the games is used; the game tells you to trust the note patterns. You can swap guitar sounds in the audio controls. Some days the chart starts in the middle of a song, and a timer on the highway shows where you are in it.

You type a guess and pick it from the song list. You get six attempts, and after each wrong guess the chart plays two seconds longer. A wrong answer can still help: it is tagged if it is by the same artist or from the same Guitar Hero game as the answer, and the share grid shows those as yellow and blue squares.

The song list draws on the Guitar Hero series, with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero: Metallica added in March 2026. Each day has a number, the next one arrives at midnight UTC, and past challenges can be played from a grid in the results screen that shows how well you did on each.

How to play Strumdle

  1. Press play and watch the note chart scroll down the highway.
  2. Type a guess and pick the song from the list, or skip.
  3. Each wrong guess or skip lets the chart play two seconds longer.
  4. Look at the tags on wrong guesses: same artist or same Guitar Hero game.
  5. Name the song within six attempts, then share your result or open a past day.

Tips

  • Watch the note rhythm more than the sound: the audio is synthetic, the pattern is what matches the real song.
  • Check the song position timer; when a chart starts mid-song, think chorus or solo, not intro.
  • Use the same-game tag to narrow your list to one Guitar Hero setlist.
  • Try a different guitar sound in the audio controls if the default makes the riff hard to hear.
