Crosstune
A daily crossword where you listen to song clips to fill in the answers.
Every day: One music crossword a day, the same grid for everyone, where each answer has a short text clue and an audio clip of a song to listen to. New puzzle: Midnight Eastern Time (New York).

Crosstune is a small daily crossword in which every answer is about music. Each word comes with a short text clue such as Song title or Artist name and a few seconds of a song to play. Listen, work out the title or the artist, and fill the grid.
About Crosstune
Crosstune is a daily music crossword from flatwhite studios, who also make Spotle and Harmonies. Its first puzzle is dated 29 April 2025, and earlier grids stay available in an archive alongside themed boards.
A grid holds a handful of crossing answers. Each one has a plain text clue, for example Song title, Artist name or a lyric with a gap, and an audio clue: press play or the space bar and you hear a short clip of the track, usually 5 to 15 seconds. The answer might be the song's title, the artist, or one word from either, so the text clue tells you what to type. Crossing letters help when a clip is not enough.
The puzzle is checked when the grid is full. If you are stuck you can check or reveal a square, a word or the whole puzzle, and a timer runs while you solve. A new grid appears at midnight New York time.
It suits people who like a mini crossword and know their pop hits. Unlike a regular crossword, most clues are heard rather than read, so knowing the song is more useful than knowing wordplay.
How to play Crosstune
- Pick a word in the grid; its colour shows which clue it belongs to.
- Press the play button or the space bar to hear that word's song clip.
- Read the text clue to see whether the answer is the title, the artist or part of one.
- Type the answer, using TAB or ENTER to move to the next word and the arrow keys to move between cells.
- Fill the whole grid; it is checked when complete. Use check or reveal if you get stuck.
Tips
- Solve the clips you know at once first, then use their letters for the harder ones.
- Read the text clue carefully: Song title, last word means only one word goes in.
- Replay a clip a few times; the start of a chorus is often enough to place it.
- Revealing a single square is a gentler hint than revealing a whole word.
