Play Pitchdle

Pitchdle, the daily name the song and restore its pitch game

Pitchdle is a daily music game from Minigame Mania. Each day three songs play shifted out of tune: you name each one, then slide it back to its original pitch by ear, and score up to 100 per song for accuracy.

About Pitchdle

Pitchdle is a daily ear test on Minigame Mania, the small site of daily games that also runs Screenplaydle and Rushdle. Every day it serves three songs from different genres, and everyone gets the same three.

Each song comes in two phases. First a 30-second preview plays, but shifted up or down in pitch, and you search for the title or artist with up to five guesses, or skip. Then you slide the audio back to where you think its original pitch lies and lock it in. There is no marked starting point, so it is a test of how well you remember the record.

Only the second phase scores: each song earns 0 to 100 on pitch accuracy, and your day's result is the average of the three. Naming the song in the first phase still matters, because a right answer widens the pitch tolerance you get in the second.

It suits players who know their songs well enough to hear when one sounds wrong, and anyone curious about how good their sense of pitch is.

How to play Pitchdle

  1. Open Pitchdle and play the first of the day's three song previews.
  2. Search for the title or artist and guess; you have five guesses, or you can skip.
  3. Move the slider until the song sounds like the original recording, then lock it in.
  4. Repeat for the other two songs and see your average score.

Tips

  • Name the song before you tune it: a right answer gives you a wider tolerance on pitch.
  • Listen to the vocal rather than the instruments; a voice out of its usual range is easier to notice.
  • Small steps near the end matter; move the slider slowly once it sounds close.

Questions

How many songs are there each day?

Three, the same for every player, and the day's score is the average of the three.

Does naming the song count toward the score?

Not directly. The score is pitch accuracy only, but naming the song widens your tolerance when you tune it.

When does Pitchdle reset?

At midnight UTC; the game keys each day to the UTC date.
