Dialed Color

The Dialed Color card: five colour swatches under Can you remember these colors?

Dialed Color is a colour-memory game from Dialed. Five colours flash up one at a time, and after each you recreate it on hue, saturation and brightness sliders. Each is scored for closeness, out of 50 in total, and the daily mode gives everyone the same five.

About Dialed Color

Dialed is a set of quick browser games about perception and memory, and Color tests how well you remember a shade. The game shows you a colour for a moment, then hides it and gives you sliders for hue, saturation and brightness to rebuild it.

There are five colours in a round, and each is scored by how close your version is to the original, for a total out of 50. Its own pitch is blunt: you're gonna be bad at this, because colour memory fades fast. The daily mode serves the same five colours to everyone, so scores can be compared, and you can challenge friends.

It is free in the browser.

It suits designers, painters and anyone who thinks they have a good eye.

How to play Dialed Color

  1. Start the daily Color round.
  2. Look at the colour while it is shown.
  3. When it disappears, set hue, saturation and brightness to match it.
  4. Repeat for all five colours and see your score out of 50.

Tips

  • Fix the hue first; it is easiest to remember.
  • Name the colour in your head, like dusty teal, to help recall.
  • Watch brightness: memory tends to make colours more vivid than they were.
