Colordle Day 1652 start screen with a grey question-mark circle and a box to type a colour name

Colordle hides one named colour a day. You type colour names, from plain Red to oddities like Birdie Num Num, and each guess comes back with a percentage for how close it is to the mystery colour. Keep narrowing it down until you name it exactly.

About Colordle

Colordle is a daily colour guessing game by Ryan Tanenholz. Under a grey question-mark circle you type the name of a colour and press Test Color. The game adds a swatch of your guess to a list with a percentage score: the closer it is to the hidden colour, the higher the number. The goal is to type the exact name of the day's colour.

The names come from a large open list of named colours, so there are thousands to choose from, with many similar shades and some playful names. That makes the game part colour sense and part vocabulary: once you are at 95 percent you know roughly what the colour looks like, but you still need to find what it is called. A link in the help panel lets you browse the whole list.

Each day is numbered, and the colour for a given day is picked in order from a fixed pool, so everyone gets the same one. The help panel can also reveal yesterday's colour, and the stats panel tracks your streak. It suits players with a good eye for shades and patience for a hot-and-cold search.

How to play Colordle

  1. Type the name of any colour in the box and press Test Color.
  2. Look at the percentage: the higher it is, the closer your guess is to the hidden colour.
  3. Use the swatches of your best guesses to steer toward lighter, darker or different hues.
  4. Keep guessing until you name the exact colour; there is no guess limit.
  5. Share your result, or open the help panel to reveal yesterday's colour.

Tips

  • Start with a few very different colours (red, blue, green, yellow) to find the right part of the spectrum.
  • Once you are close, adjust one thing at a time: lighter, darker, more muted.
  • Many names come in families such as Light, Dark, Pale or Deep plus a base name; try those variants.
  • Browse the linked colour list when you know the shade but not the name.
