Crayondle page showing today's crayon name Wild Blue Yonder, a hidden swatch, a grey mix preview and RGB sliders

Crayondle shows you the name of a classic crayon colour each day and asks you to mix it with three RGB sliders. You get a single guess, scored by how far off each channel is, so it is a quick test of colour memory and intuition.

About Crayondle

Crayondle is a small daily colour game themed on a box of crayons. Each day the game picks one crayon from a list of named shades, such as Cerulean, Goldenrod, Jungle Green or Wild Blue Yonder, using a fixed shuffle and the date in US Pacific time, so every player gets the same crayon.

You see only the name. Using three sliders for red, green and blue (0 to 255 each) you mix what you think that crayon looks like, with a live preview of your mix next to the hidden swatch. There is just one submission. The game then reveals the real colour, tells you how far off you were on each channel and gives a percentage score you can copy and share.

An easy mode reveals a photo of the crayon before you guess. Stats track games played, average and best score, streak and a distribution of results, all kept in your browser.

It suits anyone who grew up with a crayon box, designers who think in RGB, and players who want a one-minute daily game.

How to play Crayondle

  1. Read the name of today's crayon.
  2. Move the R, G and B sliders until the preview matches the colour you imagine.
  3. Press Submit Guess; you only get one.
  4. See the real colour, how far off each channel was and your score, then copy the result.

Tips

  • Start from the colour family: blues need high B, yellows need high R and G with low B.
  • Pastel names such as Carnation Pink mean all three channels are fairly high.
  • Dark shades such as Brown or Black keep all values low.
  • Use easy mode if a name means nothing to you; it shows the crayon photo.
