Colorfle

Work out which colours, in which order, mix into today’s colour.

Every day: One new target colour a day, the same for every player. In normal mode it is three colours mixed 50, 30 and 20 percent; in hard mode it is four colours mixed 40, 30, 20 and 10 percent. Six tries, with win counts and a streak. New puzzle: 5 PM local time.

Colorfle gives you a target colour and six tries to find the paint colours that make it, mixed in fixed shares. After each guess you see your mixed colour, how close it is in percent, and which picks are right or in the wrong place. A new puzzle comes every day at 5 PM your time, in a normal and a hard version.

About Colorfle

Colorfle is a colour mixing puzzle in the style of Wordle. Instead of letters you pick from a palette of twenty colours, and instead of a word you are trying to match a colour shown at the top of the screen.

In the normal game the target is made of three different colours: the first makes up 50 percent of the mix, the second 30 percent and the third 20 percent, so the order matters. Each guess is mixed and shown next to the target with an accuracy percentage. Colours in the right place turn green, colours that are in the answer but in the wrong place turn yellow, and the rest stay plain. You have six guesses.

Hard mode uses four colours at 40, 30, 20 and 10 percent, and keeps its own count of wins. Both puzzles change every day at 5 PM in your local time, and the stats screen shows your wins, current streak, best streak and average colour accuracy.

If one puzzle a day is not enough, the site also has a practice mode, a Paint Edition that mixes more like real paint, and a page for making your own Colorfle to send to friends. It suits people who like Wordle-style deduction and have an eye for colour.

How to play Colorfle

  1. Look at today’s target colour.
  2. Pick colours from the palette for each slot: the first is 50 percent of the mix, then 30, then 20.
  3. Submit the guess and compare the mixed colour and accuracy score with the target.
  4. Use the green and yellow marks to keep or move colours.
  5. Match the colour within six tries, then share your result.

Tips

  • Get the first slot right first: at 50 percent it decides most of the colour.
  • Use the accuracy percentage as well as the green and yellow marks; it tells you if a swap helped.
  • Click a result circle to compare it with an earlier guess.
  • Try hard mode once the normal puzzle is easy: four colours and a 10 percent slot that barely shows.

Questions

What time does Colorfle reset?

A new Colorfle comes every day at 5 PM in your local time.

Does the order of colours matter?

Yes. The first colour is the largest share of the mix, so the same colours in another order give a different result.

What is hard mode?

A separate daily puzzle with four colours mixed 40, 30, 20 and 10 percent instead of three.

Can I play more than one Colorfle a day?

Yes, in practice mode, the Paint Edition, or with custom puzzles you can make and share.
