Slay the Spire 2 is Mega Crit's sequel to its deckbuilding roguelike, in Early Access on Steam since March 2026. Once a day the Daily Climb gives every player the same character, seed, Ascension level and three modifiers, scores the first attempt and ranks it on solo and co-op leaderboards.

About Slay the Spire 2

Slay the Spire 2 is the second deckbuilding roguelike from Mega Crit, released in Early Access on Steam on 5 March 2026 for Windows, Mac and Linux. As in the first game you climb the Spire act by act, choosing a path through fights, shops, rest sites and events, adding cards after battles and collecting relics that change how your deck plays. The sequel adds online co-op for up to four players.

The Daily Climb is unlocked once you have played a run with each of the five characters and then won a run. Each day it picks the character, an Ascension level and three modifiers from the game's pool, such as Draft, where you build a ten-card deck from three-card picks, Flight, which removes path limits on the map, or Big Game Hunter, which adds elites with better rewards. The seed is shared, so the map, card rewards, relics and events line up for everyone.

Only your first attempt of the day counts. The score ranks a win above any loss, then how many floors you reached, then badges for feats such as beating a boss without losing HP, then your time. There are separate daily boards for solo play and for two, three and four player co-op. Finishing a daily also opens Custom Mode, where you can try the daily modifiers yourself without leaderboards or achievements.

The Daily Climb in the sequel is harder than the original's, which never used an Ascension level. It suits players who know the standard runs and want one comparable, scored attempt a day, alone or with friends.

How to play Slay the Spire 2

  1. Play a run with each of the five characters, then win a run, to unlock the Daily Climb.
  2. Choose Daily Climb from the main menu to see today's character, Ascension level, modifiers and leaderboard.
  3. Read the three modifiers before you start; they decide how you should path and which cards to take.
  4. Climb as in a normal run: pick a path on the map, win fights, add cards and relics, and reach as high as you can.
  5. When the run ends, check your rank. Only your first attempt of the day is scored.

Tips

  • Do not start the daily as a throwaway run: the first attempt is the only one that counts.
  • Floors rank above badges, so reaching one more floor is worth more than playing safe for a badge.
  • With the Draft or Sealed Deck modifier, plan a ten-card deck around one clear plan rather than the strongest single cards.
  • With Flight, use the free pathing to reach shops and rest sites when you need them.
  • Practise awkward modifiers in Custom Mode, which the daily unlocks.

Questions

When does the Slay the Spire 2 Daily Climb reset?

At 00:00 UTC, when the new day's character, modifiers and seed go live.

How do I unlock the Daily Climb?

Play at least one run with each of the five characters, then win a run. The Daily Climb opens after that.

Can I play the daily in co-op?

Yes. There are separate daily leaderboards for solo and for two, three and four player co-op.

Is the daily the same as in the first game?

The idea is the same, but the sequel adds an Ascension level to the daily and co-op boards. The original game keeps its own Daily Climb.
