Monster Train 2
Defend the pyre on a three-floor train, and take the same mutated run as everyone else each day.
Every day: Daily Challenges: one heavily modified run a day with the same seed and mutators for every player. Your first attempt is the one that goes on the global and friends leaderboards. New puzzle: Once a day.

Monster Train 2 is the 2025 sequel to Monster Train from Shiny Shoe: a deck-building roguelike where you defend the pyre on a three-floor train. Its Daily Challenges give everyone the same mutated run each day, score your first attempt, and rank it against players around the world and your friends.
About Monster Train 2
Monster Train 2 was released on May 21, 2025 by Shiny Shoe and Big Fan Games, on PC and on Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It keeps the idea of the first game: invaders board your train at the bottom and climb its three floors toward the pyre at the top, and you stop them by placing units and casting spells from your deck. The sequel brings five new clans, Room cards that give a floor a lasting effect, Equipment cards you attach to units, unit abilities, and a hub called the Covenant Outpost between runs.
The Daily Challenge sets up one run for the day with a large set of mutators, some new to the sequel and some returning from the first game, and the same seed for everyone. Because the seed is shared, the shops, rewards and fights line up for every player, and the scoring system rewards clean play: winning battles while taking little pyre damage, beating bosses fast and taking on trials.
Only your first attempt counts on the leaderboard. Once you start the run your score is locked in, and you can replay the day as many times as you like afterwards without changing your entry. The leaderboard also lets you look at how other players built their runs, which many people use to learn the day's seed. A Daily Challenge score of 50,000 or more earns the Running Up the Score achievement, so a lot of retries go toward that.
The daily suits players who like a set puzzle more than a fresh run each time: everyone starts from the same place, and the score shows how cleanly you handled it. If you know the first game, the mode will feel familiar; if not, a few normal runs first will teach you how the floors work.
How to play Monster Train 2
- Start Monster Train 2 and open the Daily Challenge from the game modes.
- Read the day's clans and mutators. Remember that your first attempt is the one that counts.
- In each battle, play units onto the three floors, use spells, room and equipment cards, and keep invaders away from the pyre on the top floor.
- Between battles, choose your route and take upgrades, units and artifacts that fit the mutators.
- When the run ends, check your rank on the global and friends leaderboards. Replay as often as you like for practice or the achievement.

Tips
- Do not start the run casually: your first score is locked in for the leaderboard as soon as you begin.
- Pyre damage taken in a battle costs score, so stop invaders on the lower floors whenever you can.
- Trials and fast boss kills add to the score, so take trials when your deck can handle them.
- Look at the top runs on the leaderboard to see which cards and upgrades worked on that seed.
- If you are after the 50,000 point achievement, use replays after your scored run; the seed stays the same.
