Slay the Spire

Build a deck as you climb the Spire, and once a day take on the same seeded climb, character and modifiers as everyone else.

Every day: The Daily Climb: one run a day with the same character, map seed and set of modifiers for every player. Your first finished attempt is scored and posted to that day's leaderboard. New puzzle: Once a day, with a new character, seed and modifiers.

Slay the Spire is a deckbuilding roguelike from Mega Crit: you fight your way up three acts of card battles, picking up cards, relics and potions as you go. The Daily Climb hands every player the same character, seed and modifiers for the day, scores your first run, and ranks it on a leaderboard for that day only.

About Slay the Spire

Slay the Spire is a single-player deckbuilder from Mega Crit, released in full on Steam in January 2019 after a period in Early Access. Each run starts with a small deck of basic cards and a map of branching paths. You choose which fights, shops, rest sites and unknown rooms to visit, add a card after most battles, and collect relics that change how your deck works, all while trying to reach the boss at the top of each act.

The Daily Climb is a separate mode next to the standard run. The game picks the character for you and applies a set of modifiers, usually a mix of helpful and harmful ones: a map with only one path, a starting deck of fifty random cards, elites that are more common but drop better rewards, or every rest site healing in full at the cost of max HP. The seed is shared, so everyone sees the same map, rewards and events, but your own choices still send the run in its own direction. Dailies are played without any Ascension level.

At the end the run is scored, and your score goes onto that day's leaderboard, which you can browse in the game. You can replay the day's climb as often as you like with what you have learned, but only the first attempt counts. Completing a Daily Climb also unlocks Custom Mode, where you can stack the daily modifiers yourself for practice, though those runs do not count toward leaderboards or achievements.

The daily suits players who already know the standard game and want a short, comparable challenge with a twist they did not choose. Mega Crit has since released Slay the Spire 2 in Early Access with its own Daily Climb, which adds an Ascension level and co-op leaderboards, but the original's daily is still running.

How to play Slay the Spire

  1. Open Slay the Spire and choose Play from the main menu. If a standard run is in progress, finish or abandon it first.
  2. Pick Daily Climb, the second option, to see today's character, modifiers and the current leaderboard.
  3. Start the climb and read each modifier: they decide whether to take risky elite fights, how much to rest and which cards to keep.
  4. Play the run as you would a normal one: choose a path on the map, win fights, add cards and relics, and push as high as you can.
  5. When the run ends, check your score and rank on the day's leaderboard. Replays are allowed, but only that first result counts.

Tips

  • Read the modifiers before the first floor; a Certain Future or Uncertain Future map changes how you plan the whole act.
  • Your first attempt is the one that counts, so do not start it as a throwaway run while you look around.
  • The score rewards getting further and beating tougher fights, so on a strong start lean toward elites rather than playing it safe.
  • If a modifier gives you a huge random deck, such as Insanity, look for cards that thin or filter your draws early.
  • Use Custom Mode, unlocked by your first daily, to practise awkward modifiers like Lethality or Terminal before they come up.

Questions

Is the Daily Climb the same for everyone?

Yes. Every player gets the same character, seed and modifiers on a given day, so the map, rewards and events line up, though your own choices quickly make each run different.

How many times can I play the Daily Climb?

As often as you like, but only your first attempt each day is scored on the leaderboard.

Can I choose my character or Ascension level in the daily?

No. The character is chosen for the day, and dailies in the original game never use an Ascension level.

Does the Daily Climb unlock anything?

Finishing a daily unlocks Custom Mode, where you can build your own runs with the daily modifiers. It does not unlock characters; those come from standard runs.

Is there a daily in Slay the Spire 2?

Yes. The sequel, in Early Access since March 2026, has its own Daily Climb with an Ascension level, three modifiers and separate solo and co-op leaderboards. It opens after you have played each character and won a run.
