Every day: One new 8x8 grid a day with the same starting blocks and the same piece order for every player. You get one run at it, and your score is ranked against everyone else's that day, with gold, silver and bronze for the top three. New puzzle: Not stated; a new grid each day, numbered by date in the app..

Linetris is an iPhone block puzzle with one grid a day, the same for everyone. You drop pieces onto an 8x8 board, clear full rows and columns, and when no piece fits your run ends and you see where you rank worldwide. There is one try a day, so each board counts.
About Linetris: Daily Block Puzzle
Linetris: Daily Block Puzzle is an iOS game by Torstein Skulbru, released on the App Store in March 2026. It takes the familiar block-placing puzzle, where you fit shapes onto a grid and clear full lines, and gives it a fixed daily board instead of an endless mode.
Each day's game is numbered and dated. The 8x8 board starts with some cells already blocked, and every player gets the same pieces in the same order. The screen shows the current piece and the next few, a count of lines cleared and a timer. You place pieces until none of them fits, and then your score goes straight onto a global leaderboard for that day. The top three players take gold, silver and bronze medals, which collect on your profile.
There is one run a day. A few power-ups help when the board fills up: Skip draws a new piece, Swap lets you pick any of the seven tetromino shapes, One Cell drops a single square into any gap, and there are tools to remove a filled cell or undo your last placement. They are limited each day, and when you run out of moves you get one last lifeline before the run closes. Power-ups can be earned by playing or bought; the daily grid itself is free.
You can also send the day's grid to a friend, who plays the same pieces in the same order, and compare scores. The game works offline and syncs your score once you reconnect, and each day of the week has its own colour. It suits players of block puzzles like Blockudoku who want a short daily game with a score that means something against other people.
How to play Linetris: Daily Block Puzzle
- Open the app and start today's game; the grid and its blocked cells are the same for everyone.
- Look at the current piece and the next pieces shown under the board.
- Tap or drag to place the current piece on an empty part of the 8x8 grid.
- Fill a whole row or column to clear it and score.
- Use Skip, Swap, One Cell and the other power-ups when no good spot is left; each is limited per day.
- When no piece fits, use your last-chance lifeline or let the run end, then see your rank on the daily leaderboard.

Tips
- Plan around the next pieces in the queue, not only the current one: everyone sees the same order.
- Keep the blocked cells in mind early, since lines through them are harder to clear.
- Save Swap for the moment only one shape would fit, rather than spending it early.
- Keep one long open row or column for the four-long I piece.
