Flamebreak

A random hero against a generated world, with one shared hero and world each day.

Every day: Daily challenges: each day every player gets the same hero (race, weapon and skills) and the same generated world, and races to beat it fastest on global and friends leaderboards. There are normal, hard and Nightmare dailies, each with its own board. New puzzle: Once a day; the game does not state the time.

Flamebreak: a hero fighting enemies in an arena

Flamebreak is a roguelite action RPG with twin-stick arena fights and hero skills borrowed from MOBAs. Each run gives you a random hero and a generated world; the daily challenges give every player the same hero and world and rank who beats it fastest.

About Flamebreak

Flamebreak is by Nimbly Games. It came to Steam in early access in October 2015 and launched in full in March 2016, on Windows, macOS and Linux, and was still being patched in 2025. Each run, you get a hero made of a random race, weapon and two skills, then cross an overworld map region by region, fighting in generated arenas until you can face the god at the end. The fights play like a twin-stick shooter, with skills such as Hook that come from Dota.

Between fights you spend gold at shops, upgrade skills, collect armour sets and earn blessings from gods. The game has ten races, eight weapons, more than twenty skills and over a hundred items, and death is permanent. A run takes roughly half an hour.

The daily challenges take away the randomness between players: everyone gets the same race, weapon, skills and world that day, and the leaderboards compare how fast each player beats it. Updates added a hard daily and a Nightmare Daily that continues into the game's nightmare mode, each with separate leaderboards, and a view of past dailies' results beside the current ones.

It suits players who like build decisions in an action game and want a fixed daily setup to compare against friends.

How to play Flamebreak

  1. Buy Flamebreak on Steam and pick one of the daily challenges (normal, hard or Nightmare).
  2. Take the hero the day gives you; everyone has the same race, weapon and skills.
  3. Cross the overworld map, fight through each arena and spend gold on items and skill upgrades.
  4. Beat the final god as fast as you can.
  5. Compare your result on the global and friends boards, and look back at past dailies.

Tips

  • Learn each race's activated ability in normal runs, so a daily hero you rarely play is less of a surprise.
  • Plan purchases around the skills the daily gives you rather than the best item in the shop.
  • The hard and Nightmare dailies have their own leaderboards; start with the normal one.
