GoNNER gameplay: a small teal creature mid-fight among red blob enemies and floating platforms on a black background, with a combo counter of 1233

GoNNER is a tough, score-based, procedurally generated platformer with roguelike elements and a story about Ikk, Death and a space whale named Sally. Its Daily Challenge can be played once a day: everyone gets the same world and the same loadout and competes on a leaderboard.

About GoNNER

GoNNER is a score-based, procedurally generated platformer with roguelike elements from Art in Heart, published by Raw Fury in 2016 and later updated as the BlüEBERRY Edition with new weapons, heads and enemies. Its story is about the friendship between Ikk, Death and a space whale named Sally. You will die a lot, by design, and lost heads can be swapped for replacements.

At the start of each run you choose from passive and active abilities, and secret areas unlock items you can use from the start of later runs. Killing creatures and chaining combos builds your score.

The Daily Challenge can be played only once a day. The levels are still randomly generated, but in this mode everybody plays the same world with an identical loadout, so the only difference is skill. Results go on a leaderboard, and everything resets at midnight Swedish time (UTC+1).

It suits players of Spelunky and Downwell who like a hard, fast run and a single daily attempt to compare.

How to play GoNNER

  1. Buy and install GoNNER on Steam.
  2. Choose the Daily Challenge from the menu; you get one attempt that day.
  3. Fight and jump through the generated world with the fixed loadout, keeping your combo going.
  4. See where your score lands on the daily leaderboard.

Tips

  • Chain kills to build combos: they drive your score.
  • Take it slower in the daily than in normal runs: there is no second try.
  • Learn the heads, weapons and abilities in normal runs so you know what the daily loadout can do.
