About Gibbon: Beyond the Trees

Gibbon: Beyond the Trees comes from the studio Broken Rules and was released on Steam in May 2022. You play a gibbon swinging, backflipping and sliding through the canopy, chaining moves to keep your momentum. The story mode is a short adventure through a vanishing rainforest and into the human world beyond; Liberation mode is an endless procedural jungle where you free other gibbons.

Daily Runs arrived in September 2022 for players who have finished the story. Each day the game generates a new level that is the same for everyone, and you compete on worldwide leaderboards to see who gets furthest in the given time or swings fastest. A 2026 update added Sprints, short 800 m races that also refresh daily, and weekly Endurance Runs over 7,000 m, all with friends' leaderboards.

The game is Steam Deck Verified and has a boxed Nintendo Switch edition.

It suits players who love flow and movement games and want a calm-looking but competitive daily challenge.

How to play Gibbon: Beyond the Trees

1. Buy and install the game on Steam.
2. Complete the story mode to unlock Daily Runs.
3. Open the Daily Run menu and play the day's level: swing, flip and slide to keep your speed.
4. Post your result to the leaderboard, then try the daily Sprint.
