The Daily Hue
Match one hidden colour from the day's artwork with three sliders and five guesses.
Every day: One real artwork a day with one hidden colour from it, the same for every player, to match with hue, saturation and lightness sliders in five guesses. New puzzle: Once a day, with the date shown under the logo.

The Daily Hue shows one real artwork each day, from a painting to a ceramic piece, and hides one of its colours. You rebuild that colour with hue, saturation and lightness sliders, with arrows after each miss telling you which way to move, and finishing unlocks a gallery of other works in the same colour.
About The Daily Hue
The Daily Hue is a colour matching game built around art. Each day it features one work from a museum or open collection, such as The Met, the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery of Art, the Rijksmuseum or the Smithsonian, or a piece submitted by a living artist. One colour from that work is hidden, and your job is to match it.
You have three sliders: hue for where the colour sits on the wheel, saturation for how vivid or grey it is, and lightness for how close it is to white or black. The swatch beside them shows your current mix. After each wrong guess, arrows on the sliders tell you whether to go warmer or cooler, more vivid or more muted, lighter or darker. You get five guesses, and the hidden colour is always somewhere in the artwork itself, sometimes a large area and sometimes a small detail.
Whether you match it or run out of guesses, the game shows the answer and opens a gallery of other artworks in a similar colour, along with a short daily write-up about the piece and its maker. You can share a result grid that does not give the colour away.
The daily puzzle is free and needs no account. A free account keeps streaks, favourites and leaderboard scores; past days and the themed collections are unlocked with keys earned through play, ads or the shop. It suits players who like colour games and anyone who wants a small daily look at a real work of art.
How to play The Daily Hue
- Look at the day's artwork and find where the hidden colour might be.
- Move the hue, saturation and lightness sliders until the swatch looks right.
- Submit the guess and read the arrows on each slider for which way to move.
- Adjust and guess again, up to five times.
- Match the colour or use your guesses to see the answer and the gallery of artworks in that hue.
Tips
- Start with the largest obvious colour area in the picture.
- After a miss, move all three sliders a little rather than one slider a lot.
- If the hue looks right but the match still fails, saturation is usually the one that is off.
- Click the artwork to zoom in on small details.
