OSRS Wordle on OSRS Tools

An OSRS Wordle board with an eight-letter answer: two guesses, RUNEAXES and LOBSTERS, marked in yellow and grey tiles above four empty rows

OSRS Wordle is a Wordle for Old School RuneScape players. Each day everyone gets the same hidden name from the game, an item, a skill or a place, and six tries to spell it from green, yellow and grey tiles. If you are stuck, you can reveal the item's examine text as a hint.

About OSRS Wordle

OSRS Wordle is one of the small games on OSRS Tools, a fan site of tools and guides for Old School RuneScape that is not affiliated with Jagex. It takes the Wordle rules and swaps the dictionary for names from the game: items, skills, places and more.

Each day the site picks one word from its list, seeded from the UTC date, so every player gets the same answer and a new one arrives at midnight UTC. Unlike classic Wordle the length is not fixed at five letters: the grid has as many columns as today's answer has letters, and every guess must match that length. You get six rows. After each guess a tile turns green for a right letter in the right place, yellow for a letter that is in the word somewhere else, and grey for a letter that is not in it.

The game adds one RuneScape touch: an optional hint that shows the in-game examine text of today's answer without giving away the name. When you finish, a button copies your coloured grid to share, and the game tells you to come back tomorrow for the next word.

It plays in the browser with no account, on a keyboard or the on-screen letters. It suits regular OSRS players who know their item names by heart and want a quick daily check of that knowledge.

How to play OSRS Wordle

  1. Open the game and look at the empty grid: the number of columns is the length of today's word.
  2. Type a guess of exactly that length with your keyboard or the on-screen letters, then press Enter.
  3. Read the tiles: green is the right letter in the right spot, yellow is in the word but elsewhere, grey is not in the word.
  4. Use what you learned for the next guess; you have six rows in all.
  5. If you are stuck, open the hint to read the examine text of today's answer.
  6. When you solve it or run out of rows, copy your result with the share button and come back after midnight UTC for a new word.

Tips

  • Count the columns first: an eight-letter answer points to a two-word item or a longer name, so think of OSRS names that fit before guessing.
  • Plurals and common endings such as S, ES and ER are useful early guesses because many item names end in them.
  • Save the examine hint for when the letters alone leave several names open; the examine line usually narrows it to one item.

Questions

When does OSRS Wordle reset?

The word is seeded from the calendar date in UTC, so a new word arrives at midnight UTC and everyone has the same one that day.

Is every answer five letters long?

No. The answer can be any OSRS name, and the grid shows as many letters as today's word has. Each guess must be that length.

What does the hint show?

It reveals the in-game examine text of today's answer. It does not show the name itself.

Do I need an account?

No. The daily word plays in the browser with no sign-up.
