bab.le is a 1-bit word game on itch.io in the spirit of Wordle, built as a tower. You start at the top row and guess each hidden word in turn. Correct letters lock in across the whole tower, so each word you solve gives you clues for the ones below. A new daily tower comes out at midnight GMT.

About bab.le

bab.le is a small browser game by fourfortyfour, made in Godot with a two-colour pixel look. The puzzle is a tower of words that widens toward the bottom, from short words at the top to a long word at the base. You begin with the letters of BABLE already placed in the tower, and you work your way down from the top row.

You type a guess for the current row with the keyboard or the on-screen keys and press Enter. Correct letters lock in. When a whole word is right, all its letters lock in for the entire puzzle and you move down to the next row. Letters matching the one you are typing are highlighted, and empty spaces never hold letters from words you have already locked in, which helps rule out guesses.

Each solved word scores up to 100 points, reduced by the time and the number of guesses it took, and the game shows your total time and score when you reach the bottom. A new daily tower arrives at midnight GMT.

Beyond the daily there is a Custom mode. The standard dictionary has about 4,000 fairly common English words, while the extended dictionary in Custom mode has more than 100,000 entries, closer to a Scrabble word list.

Tips

  • Use the letters already locked into a row from words above as your main clue.
  • Empty spaces never contain letters from words you have already solved, so leave those out.
  • Fast, confident guesses score more, since time and guess count both cut points.
  • The standard daily list sticks to common English words, so try familiar words first.
