Find the day's hidden word in six guesses, with an answer anywhere from five to ten letters long.

Every day: One hidden English word a day, the same for everyone, between five and ten letters long (nine letters on 7 Oct 2026), to find in six guesses with green and gold feedback; it is the first of Clue Morning's seven daily games. New puzzle: Midnight Pacific time (America/Los_Angeles).

Letter Grid's Typesetter board for 7 Oct 2026: an empty grid of six rows of nine tiles, 0/6 guesses, an on-screen keyboard with Clear and Pull Press, in a print shop scene

Letter Grid is the word guessing game that opens Clue Morning's daily set. Everyone gets the same hidden word each day, and its length changes from five to ten letters, so some mornings are a quick five and others a long ten. Green and gold letters guide you to the answer within six guesses.

About Letter Grid (Clue Morning)

Letter Grid is the first of seven daily games on Clue Morning, a small free site that also serves Four Groups, Letter Trail, Triple Link, Word Steps, Deep Cut and Last Call each morning. Its rules follow Wordle: guess a valid word, read the colours, and close in on the answer within six tries.

The difference is length. The day's answer can be anywhere from five to ten letters, and the board shows how many before you start. Longer words give you more letters per guess but also more positions to sort out, and the site's scoring gives long words a higher multiplier to match.

Green marks a letter in the right place, and gold marks a letter that belongs in the word somewhere else. The page is dressed as an old print shop called The Typesetter: you set your word on the press, then pull the press to submit it. Your score rises when you solve in fewer guesses and less time.

The word changes at midnight Pacific time, and the answer is checked on Clue Morning's server, so everyone has the same puzzle. Your result feeds the Morning Run total across all seven games, along with a streak, an archive of past weeks and a daily leaderboard. Playing the daily set is free in the browser with no account; an optional paid Unlimited pass opens a reserve library of extra puzzles that never touch the daily score.

How to play Letter Grid (Clue Morning)

  1. Open Letter Grid on Clue Morning; the board shows today's word length and six empty rows.
  2. Type a valid English word of exactly that length and pull the press to submit it.
  3. Read the feedback: green letters are in the right place, gold letters are in the word but somewhere else.
  4. Use what you learn in each new guess and find the word within six tries.
  5. Go back to the Morning Run to play the other six daily games and add to your total.

Tips

  • With a long answer, try a common ending such as -ING, -ION or -ED early; it can confirm several positions at once.
  • Make your first guess cover many different common letters instead of repeating one.
  • Keep green letters where they are and move each gold letter to a new spot on the next try.
  • Watch for repeated letters in longer words; a single gold letter can still appear twice.
