Queerdle

The Queerdle board on a pink background: a six-letter grid of six rows above an on-screen keyboard

Queerdle is a Wordle variant where every answer comes from queer culture: slang, history, people and places. The word can be 4 to 8 characters, a proper noun or two words run together, and you get six tries. After you finish, the game links to a short piece about the day's answer.

About Queerdle

Queerdle calls itself the yassification of Wordle. The rules are Wordle's: type a guess, and each letter turns to show whether it is in the word and in the right place. What changes is the word list. Answers are drawn from queer slang, history, places and names, and the game warns that some are NSFW and that they do not have to be in any dictionary.

The length moves from day to day, from four characters to eight, and the board shows you how many squares you have. Some days the answer is a proper noun, and some days it is two words written as one. The welcome note says the longer puzzles actually have a higher win rate, since a long word gives more letters to work with.

Once the day is done, Queerdle shows the answer with a link or video about it, such as an article on a piece of queer history, so each round ends with something to read. Results share as a numbered grid. A suggest-words link lets players propose future answers, and an accessible theme is one click away under the board.

How to play Queerdle

  1. Open queerdle.com and count the squares in the top row: that is the length of today's answer.
  2. Type a guess of that length and press Enter.
  3. Read the colours: a letter in the right place, a letter in the word but elsewhere, or a letter not in the word.
  4. Use what you learned in the next row; you have six rows in all.
  5. When you solve it or run out, read the note about the answer and copy your numbered result to share.

Tips

  • Think of slang, drag terms, names and places, not only dictionary words.
  • On long boards, try a guess with common letters first: the extra squares give you more information per row.
  • If no ordinary word fits, try two words run together or a proper noun.
  • Switch to the accessible theme if the default colours are hard to tell apart.
