Cascadle, the daily cascading word game

Cascadle is a daily word game built as a cascade. You solve a chain of five words that grow from three letters to seven, guessing Wordle-style with colour clues. Solving one level unlocks the next, and all your earlier guesses carry down as clues for the longer word below, so the score is the number of tiles you use across all five.

About Cascadle

Cascadle starts small. The first word has three letters, and you guess it with coloured tiles marking right, misplaced and missing letters, as in Wordle. Solve it and the next level opens with a four-letter word, then five, six and seven letters.

The twist is the cascade. Once you solve a word, its tiles change to give you clues for the next level, and all your previous guesses become clues for the word you are now trying to find. A careful early guess can help you twice: once for the word in front of you and again further down the chain. Your result is counted in tiles: how many you needed to guess all five words.

There is a new Cascadle every day, the same for everyone. The site keeps a play history and a tile distribution, offers a high contrast mode, and shows no ads. It is made by Reason Factory Ltd, which notes that any other site using the Cascadle name with similar rules is a copy.

Cascadle suits Wordle players who want a little more each day, with a chain to plan across rather than a single word.

How to play Cascadle

  1. Open cascadle.xyz and start with the three-letter word.
  2. Type a guess and read the colour clues on the tiles.
  3. Solve the word to unlock the next level, one letter longer.
  4. Use the clues carried down from your earlier guesses to find each new word.
  5. Solve all five words, from three letters to seven, with as few tiles as you can, then share your result.

Tips

  • Choose early guesses with letters common in longer words; they keep paying off further down the chain.
  • Look at the cascaded tiles before guessing each new level; they may already pin several letters.
  • Count tiles, not guesses: short words are cheap, long ones are not, so spend effort on the later levels.
