Escalatle
Help a turtle down a staircase of words, each one the last word plus a letter.
Every day: A new word staircase every day in three difficulties: start from a few letters, then add one letter and rearrange to make each next word until the turtle reaches the ground. New puzzle: Once a day (the game shows a countdown to the next turtle).

Escalatle is a daily word game where a turtle climbs down a staircase built from words. Each step must use every letter of the word above plus one more, rearranged into a new word. Pick one of three difficulties and come back each day for a new turtle.
About Escalatle
Escalatle, by CanalWeasel, is played in the browser on itch.io. The story is simple: the turtles want to get down, but they can only step on valid words. The staircase starts with a short set of letters at the top, and each new row is one tile longer than the one above it.
To build the next step you type a word that contains every letter of the previous word plus one new letter, in any order. In the example on the page, the steps run ALW, BAWL, ABLOW, BARLOW, ROWABLE, WORKABLE and WORKTABLE, so the turtle walks down a ten-tile staircase. A word that is not valid, or that leaves out one of the letters from the step above, turns red and costs one of your five hearts.
There are three difficulties, and the screenshots show staircases of different lengths, from a short climb to five-letter words to one that ends in a ten-letter word. When the last step is filled, the turtle reaches the ground and the game tells you how long until the next turtle arrives, since a new challenge is set each day. An on-screen keyboard makes it playable by mouse or touch as well as with a keyboard, and there is a guide screen explaining the rules.

Tips
- Common endings such as -ED, -ER, -LE and -ABLE make it easier to add a letter to a longer word.
- Before typing, check that every letter from the step above is in your word.
- Plurals are tempting, but adding S can make the next step harder to extend.
