Eightile

Unscramble a growing word, one letter at a time, until all eight tiles make a word.

Every day: One set of eight letters a day, the same for every player: unscramble a three-letter word, then four, five, six and seven, and finally the eight-letter word, against a five-minute clock. New puzzle: Midnight US Eastern Time (04:00 UTC).

A finished Eightile: a pyramid of coloured letter tiles from DIM up to MEDICINE, with the solve time and win streak

Eightile is a timed daily anagram game. You start with three letter tiles and make a word from them; each right answer adds one more tile until you find the day's eight-letter word, all inside five minutes. Everyone gets the same letters each day, in English, Spanish, French or Galician.

About Eightile

Eightile is a small daily word game made by Alex Morgan, who also made the tile-sliding game Photo Chute. It launched at the end of September 2026, and each day's puzzle is the same for everyone playing in the same language: English, Spanish, French or Galician.

A day's game is a ladder of anagrams. You get three letters and must use all of them in one word. Solve it and a fourth letter joins them, then a fifth, and so on up to eight. Each step usually has several right answers, so any valid word that uses every tile moves you on. The last rung is the eight-letter word, and you have to reach it before a five-minute clock runs out.

What sets Eightile apart from other daily anagram games is that the earlier rungs are a path to the last one: the short words you find hint at the long one, and a good player builds each answer from the one before. Your result is your time, shared as 'I solved today's Eightile in N seconds', with a win streak kept on your device.

It suits anyone who likes Wordle-sized puzzles with a little pressure: a game takes a minute or two on a good day, and there is no account, no sign-up and no ads on the page.

How to play Eightile

  1. Press start: the clock begins at five minutes and you get three letter tiles.
  2. Click, tap or type the letters to place them; select a placed letter again to send it back.
  3. Make a word that uses every tile; when it is right, a new letter is added.
  4. Keep going through four, five, six and seven letters.
  5. Find a word that uses all eight letters before the clock reaches zero to win, then share your time.

Tips

  • Try to extend your last answer: the word you just found often sits inside the next one.
  • Think of words starting with each available letter, even if they are too short, to shake loose a longer one.
  • Common endings such as -ED, -ER, -ES and -ING are worth trying early on the six- to eight-letter rungs.
