Wordishi

Fill a diamond of words where each row adds or drops one letter, from the top word down to the bottom one.

Every day: One diamond-shaped word ladder a day (by London date), the same for everyone, that grows a letter per row and then shrinks back; solving it adds the day's gem to your collection. New puzzle: Midnight London time (a countdown shows the next puzzle).

Wordishi example diamond: RAT, ARTY, PARTY, PARITY growing row by row, then empty rows narrowing down to AIR

Wordishi is a daily word ladder shaped like a diamond. The top and bottom words are given, and every row in between must be a different word that is one letter longer or shorter than its neighbour, with the letters free to move, as in RAT, ARTY, PARTY, PARITY. You have four lives, and each wrong guess costs one.

About Wordishi

Wordishi is a small browser word puzzle with one new board a day. A countdown shows when the next puzzle arrives, and the day is set by London time, so everyone plays the same diamond.

The board is a stack of rows that widens to a middle row and then narrows again. The first and last words are shown, and a few letters may be given. Each row's word must differ from the next by one letter (added or removed) and may be rearranged, so LIE can lead to IDLE. Every row must be a new word, so simply adding an S (LIE to LIES) is not allowed.

You fill rows one at a time and get four lives; a wrong guess costs one. Once solved, the game shows the day's gem (each puzzle has a named gem that goes into your collection), an error heatmap of where you went wrong and your stats. There is no account.

It suits players who enjoy anagram ladders like Shuffalo or the Helsingin Sanomat Sanajuuri, and anyone who likes a short daily puzzle with a little risk.

How to play Wordishi

  1. Open wordishi.com to load today's diamond.
  2. Look at the given top and bottom words and any revealed letters.
  3. Fill each row with a word that adds one letter to the row above (rearranging is allowed) until the widest row.
  4. Then drop one letter per row to reach the bottom word.
  5. Avoid four wrong guesses; each mistake costs one life.

Tips

  • Work from both ends: the bottom word limits what the lower rows can be.
  • Use the revealed letters to pin down the middle, longest row.
  • Remember plurals of the row above are not allowed, so look for a real rearrangement.

You have four lives, and each wrong guess costs one.

Can I just add an S to make the next word?
