Antiwordle
Wordle in reverse: last as many guesses as you can before you hit the word.
Every day: One hidden five-letter word a day, the same for everyone, that you try not to guess for as long as possible. New puzzle: Midnight in your local time zone.

Antiwordle turns Wordle around. There is one hidden five-letter word a day, and the aim is to avoid it for as many guesses as possible. The catch is that every clue binds you: grey letters are banned, yellow letters must be used and red letters are locked in place, so each guess pushes you closer to the answer whether you like it or not.
About Antiwordle
Antiwordle uses the same board, keyboard and five-letter words as Wordle, but your score is the number of guesses it takes before you are forced onto the answer. Higher is better. You type any valid word, and the game colours the letters: grey for letters not in the hidden word, yellow for letters that are in it, and red for letters in exactly the right spot.
Those colours are rules, not hints. A grey letter can never be typed again, a yellow letter must appear in every later guess, and a red letter stays fixed in its square. Early on it is easy to dodge the answer, but as the banned letters pile up and the locked ones fill the row, the words you are allowed to play shrink until only the answer is left. Hard Mode tightens it further: yellow letters have to move to new positions and repeated grey letters cannot come back.
There is one puzzle a day, turning over at your local midnight. The menu shows yesterday's word, your personal best and your current streak, and a share button posts your result. It is free in the browser with ads. It suits Wordle regulars who know the word list well and want a puzzle that rewards the opposite instinct.
How to play Antiwordle
- Type any five-letter word and submit it.
- Grey letters are not in the hidden word and can no longer be used.
- Yellow letters are in the word and must appear in every guess after that.
- Red letters are in the right place and stay locked there.
- Keep guessing words that follow those rules for as long as you can; the game ends when you land on the hidden word.
Tips
- Open with a word full of rare letters so you are less likely to turn letters yellow or red early.
- Avoid common vowels in the first guesses; once a vowel turns yellow it must be in every word you play.
- Keep a few safe letters unused for later, when the locked squares leave you few options.
- Think ahead before each guess: a red letter fixes that square for the rest of the game.
