One trail, one bike and a new set of obstacles each day, raced against everyone's best time.

Every day: Daily Rides: each day you ride one of the game's trails on a preselected bike, with new obstacles on the way down and sometimes modifiers such as changed checkpoints. Every crash adds penalty time, and your best time goes on the daily leaderboard and counts toward a four-week season. New puzzle: Once a day, with a new trail, bike and obstacles; seasons run four weeks with a one-week break between them.

Lonely Mountains: Downhill is a mountain biking game from Megagon Industries about finding your own line down quiet, low-poly mountains. Its Daily Rides mode picks one trail and one bike for the day, adds new obstacles, and ranks every rider's best time on a daily leaderboard.

About Lonely Mountains: Downhill

Lonely Mountains: Downhill is a downhill mountain biking game made by the Berlin studio Megagon Industries. It came out in October 2019 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and on Nintendo Switch in May 2020. Each mountain has several trails split into checkpoint sections, and there are no barrier tapes: you can stay on the path or cut through forest, rocks and rivers to find a faster way down. Hit a tree or drop off a cliff and you go back to the last checkpoint.

Daily Rides arrived in 2020, first as an open beta on Steam. Each day you are given one of the game's trails and a preselected bike, with new obstacles placed on the way down, so the line you learned in normal play may not work. Every crash is added to your total time as a penalty, which makes careful riding worth as much as speed. From 2021 the developers also added modifiers to the daily rides, starting with changed checkpoints.

Daily times feed into seasons. Since 2022 each season runs four weeks, followed by a one-week break in which the daily rides and daily leaderboards stay open but there is no season ranking. Seasons come with themed outfits and paint jobs as rewards, and the developers post the top 25 riders on Steam. They were still starting new seasons in 2025.

It suits players who like short time trials and retrying one run until it is clean, and who want a reason to come back to a calm game each day.

How to play Lonely Mountains: Downhill

  1. Open Daily Rides from the main menu to see today's trail and the bike you have to use.
  2. Ride the trail from the top to the finish, picking your own line between checkpoints.
  3. Watch for the day's new obstacles and modifiers; the usual shortcuts may be blocked.
  4. Avoid crashes: each one adds penalty time to your total.
  5. Retry for a better time and check where you stand on the daily leaderboard and in the season ranking.

Tips

  • A slower clean run often beats a fast one with a crash or two, because every crash adds penalty time.
  • Ride the same trail in normal mode first if you do not know it, then learn where the day's obstacles sit.
  • Each bike handles differently, so spend a run getting used to the daily bike before going for time.
