About Descenders

Descenders is an extreme downhill biking game made by RageSquid and published by No More Robots. It left early access in May 2019 on PC and Xbox One, and came to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in 2020. Its tracks are generated by the game, so a normal session is a run down a chain of hills, forests, deserts and peaks you have not seen before, with a few points of health that crashes take away.

The Daily Challenge, added in a June 2018 update, sits in the Ride menu. It starts a regular session, but the seed is the same for every player and changes each day, and you get only one chance at it. What you score in Rep, from speed, tricks and bonus objectives, goes onto a leaderboard kept apart from the others, which you can view in the Standings menu for that day and the day before.

Because everyone rides the same tracks, the daily turns a game of endless random hills into a shared race: you can compare lines and crashes with friends who rode the same course. One bad bail can end a run early, which is what makes the single attempt tense.

It suits players who like physics-based riding and score chasing, and want a short fixed course each day rather than an open-ended career.

How to play Descenders

1. Open the Ride menu and choose Daily Challenge.
2. Ride the day's generated tracks from top to bottom, picking your line through each one.
3. Land jumps and tricks and finish bonus objectives to earn Rep, while avoiding crashes that cost health.
4. Keep going until the session ends or your health runs out; you get one run a day.
5. Check the Standings menu to see your place on the day's leaderboard.

• A clean run with few bails usually beats risky tricks that cost health early.
• Learn the controls and the worlds in normal sessions before spending your one daily attempt.
• Look at the bonus objective at the start of each track: it is generated to be possible on that track.
