DemonCrawl is a puzzle roguelite that builds on Minesweeper with hundreds of items, stages and abilities. Its daily Hero Trial is a long endgame quest generated for the date, with the same stages and modifiers for every player and a leaderboard for the day.

About DemonCrawl

DemonCrawl, by Therefore Games, has been on Steam since November 2019 and is still updated (version 2.6.0 arrived in August 2026). Each stage is a Minesweeper board, but you also have health, coins, an inventory of items, character levels and talents, and many stage types that bend the rules.

The daily mode is the Hero Trial, unlocked by beating the first dimension of Endless Multiverse. Each day a new trial of 14 to 19 stages is generated, ending in a boss. According to the official wiki, on a given calendar date all players share the same stages, the same stage mods and the same global mods (shown in the trial's name); loot and the identity of the bosses are still random. You may retry a failed trial as often as you like. Since the August 2026 update a trial also has a small chance of using a hand-made item and mastery loadout.

The store says there is a leaderboard for every quest on Hard and above, including the daily Hero Trial, and that all scores are cross-platform. Around it are standard Quests, Endless Multiverse, the extra-hard Beyond, a Classic minesweeper mode and an online PvP Arena for eight players.

It suits Minesweeper fans who want depth and roguelite players who like a shared daily challenge to compare.

How to play DemonCrawl

  3. Clear each Minesweeper stage, using numbers to find mines and items to survive mistakes.
  4. Finish all stages and the boss for a prize box and a place on the day's leaderboard.

Tips

  • Read the global mods carefully; they apply to every stage of the trial.
  • Loot and bosses are random, so retrying a failed trial can give a better run.
  • Spend coins on items that protect you from mistakes before the long late stages.
  • Check the wiki page on Hero Trials for what each mod and prefix does.
