The Special Daily Minesweeper on puzzle-minesweeper.com turns the old desktop game into a daily logic puzzle: one large board a day, the same for everyone. Numbers tell you how many mines touch each cell, and you flag the mines and open the safe cells until the board is clear.
About Daily Minesweeper
The rules are the ones most people know from the desktop game. Each number counts the mines in the up to eight cells around it, including the diagonals, and your job is to find where every mine is. On this site Minesweeper is set as a puzzle rather than a game of luck: the board starts with number clues in place, so you work out the mines from them instead of clicking blindly to get started.
Puzzle-minesweeper.com has Easy and Hard boards from 5x5 to 20x20, a Mosaic variant, and the Special Daily, Weekly and Monthly puzzles. The daily is the same board for every player and bigger than anything in the regular list; the one for 2 October 2026 was 30 cells square. There is a Classic Mode setting, an option to submit the board automatically when it is right, and checkpoints you can save and return to. The site shows ads unless you become a patron, which also unlocks the last 30 daily boards.
It is a good fit for people who played Minesweeper years ago and liked the reasoning more than the explosions, and for logic puzzle fans who want a daily grid that reads quickly at a glance but takes a while to finish.
How to play Daily Minesweeper
- Open puzzle-minesweeper.com and choose Special Daily Minesweeper.
- Read the numbers: each one is the count of mines in the cells touching it, side by side and corner to corner.
- Right-click a cell to place a flag where a mine must be, and left-click to open a cell you know is safe.
- Work outward from the clues, using each flag and each opened cell to settle the cells around the next number.
- When every mine is flagged, press Done (or Enter) to check the board, or turn on auto submit.
Tips
- A number with exactly as many hidden neighbours as its value has a mine in every one of them; flag them all.
- Once a number has all its mines flagged, every other hidden cell around it is safe.
- Compare two numbers side by side: the cells they share must hold the same mines for both, so the difference often tells you which outer cells are mines or safe.
- On a 30x30 board, save a checkpoint before a long chain of deductions so you can return to it if a flag turns out wrong.
