Untangle (DailyPlay)
Rate itDrag the stars of a daily constellation until none of its lines cross.
Every day: One constellation a day, the same for every player: a set of stars joined by lines that cross (12 stars and 35 crossings on the medium daily of 20 October 2026). Drag stars until no lines cross; your score is your time, each hint adds 10 seconds, and past days are in an archive. New puzzle: Midnight US Eastern Time (04:00 UTC while daylight saving runs).

Untangle is DailyPlay's daily planarity puzzle. Each day everyone gets the same constellation of stars joined by crossing lines, and you drag the stars around until no two lines cross. Your time is your score, hints cost 10 seconds, and the site has no ads.
About Untangle (DailyPlay)
Untangle is one of the daily games on DailyPlay, the ad-free puzzle site run by Chris Benjaminsen through his company GreatGamesNetwork ApS. It takes the old planarity puzzle, a graph of points and lines that has to be pulled apart so no lines cross, and dresses it as a night sky: the points are stars and the graph is a constellation.
Each day brings one new constellation, the same for every player. The board of 20 October 2026, marked Medium, had twelve stars and opened with 35 crossings. A counter at the top shows how many crossings are left, and crossing lines stay bright until they are cleared. The lines never change; you only move the stars, and two stars cannot sit on the same spot.
A timer runs while you play and your finishing time is your score. You get three hints, and each one adds 10 seconds to your time. Undo takes back a move. First-time players get a short three-step tutorial that can be skipped. When you finish you can share your result, and a calendar of previous puzzles lets you play earlier days. Streaks and levels are kept in the browser, or across devices with a free account.
It plays the same in a desktop browser and on a phone, where you drag the stars with a finger. It suits players who like spatial puzzles more than word or number ones, and anyone who wants a short, quiet daily with no ads or pop-ups.
How to play Untangle (DailyPlay)
- Open Untangle on DailyPlay to load today's constellation; skip or follow the short tutorial the first time.
- Look at the crossing count at the top and find the stars whose lines cross the most others.
- Drag a star to a new spot; the lines attached to it follow, and the count goes down when crossings clear.
- Keep moving stars until the count reaches zero and no lines cross. Stars cannot rest on top of each other.
- Use Undo to take back a move, or Hint when stuck, which adds 10 seconds to your time.
- Share your time when you finish, or open Previous Puzzles to play an earlier day.

Tips
- Start by pulling the stars with the most lines to the edges of the board, where they cross less.
- Find a triangle or small loop that is already clean and build the rest around it.
- Use the space: the board is larger than the starting cluster, and spreading stars out makes crossings easier to see.
- Save hints for the end; each one costs 10 seconds, which counts for more on a quick solve.
