Constellation title art: the word Constellation and Light the network over a dark sky of numbered stars from a puzzle board

Constellation is a hashi (bridges) puzzle set in a night sky. Each star shows how many light bridges must touch it, and you connect them with straight, non-crossing single or double bridges until every star is satisfied and all of them form one network. The Daily button gives a board that is the same for everyone that day.

About Constellation

Constellation is a browser puzzle by Solomon Dev Studios, a take on the logic puzzle known as hashiwokakero, or bridges. The board is a dark sky with numbered stars. Each number says how many light bridges must touch that star.

Bridges run straight up, down, left or right, never cross each other, and at most two can join any pair of stars. You drag from one star to another to build a bridge, drag again to double it, and once more to clear it. The puzzle is solved when every star has exactly its number and the whole constellation is one connected network.

The developer says every board is generated and then checked by a solver that only makes forced deductions; any board it cannot finish by logic alone is thrown away, so you never have to guess. There are three sizes: small (7x7 with 9 stars), medium (9x9 with 14) and large (11x11 with 20). The Daily button builds a board from the UTC date in the size you have selected, so players on the same size share the same puzzle, and solving it on consecutive days builds a streak. New Puzzle gives unlimited random boards.

The game is a single HTML file that works offline once loaded and can be installed. It has undo, hints, keyboard controls, an option to dim finished stars and a warning for over-linked stars. It suits players who like quiet number-logic puzzles with no guessing.

How to play Constellation

  1. Open the itch.io page, choose a size (small, medium or large) and press Daily.
  2. Drag between two stars in a straight line to build a light bridge; drag again to make it double, once more to clear it.
  3. Give each star exactly as many bridges as its number, with no bridges crossing.
  4. Make sure every star ends up connected into one network.
  5. Finish to complete the daily and extend your streak, or press New Puzzle for more.

Tips

  • Start with stars whose number forces their bridges, such as a corner star with a high number or a star with only one neighbour.
  • A star showing 8 needs double bridges in all four directions; a 6 or 7 also leaves very little choice.
  • Avoid closing off a small group that is already complete; the whole sky must stay one network.
  • Turn on dimming for finished stars so you can see what is left at a glance.

Questions

Is the Constellation daily the same for everyone?

Yes, for each size. The daily board is built from the UTC date and the size you pick, so everyone on the same size gets the same puzzle.

When does the daily change?

At midnight UTC.

Will I ever need to guess?

No. The developer says every board is checked by a solver using only forced deductions, and boards that need a guess are discarded.

Is Constellation free?

Yes. It is free in the browser on itch.io and works offline once loaded.
