Today's medium Hashi puzzle on PuzzleMadness, a wide grid of numbered circle islands with no bridges drawn yet

PuzzleMadness posts a new Hashi puzzle every day, the same grid for every player, at several sizes. Draw horizontal or vertical bridges between islands so each island has as many bridges as its number, with at most two between any pair, no crossings, and everything connected. Finished puzzles score points on the site's monthly and all-time leaderboards.

About Hashi (PuzzleMadness)

Hashi, short for Hashiwokakero and also called Bridges, is played on a grid of numbered circles. Each circle is an island, and its number is how many bridges must end there. Bridges run straight across or down, never diagonally, at most two can join the same pair of islands, bridges may not cross, and in the end all the islands must form one connected group.

The daily page opens today's puzzle on its own, and its title carries the date (on 3 October 2026 it read "Daily Medium Hashi Puzzle for Saturday 3rd October 2026"). There is a separate dated puzzle for each size: Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large and Mixed. Past days stay in the archive, so a missed puzzle can be played later, and there is a print version and an image download of the grid. PuzzleMadness does not publish solutions: the site tells you when you have finished a grid correctly or made a mistake. Each completed puzzle adds to your total on the Hashi monthly and all-time leaderboards, where only your best score on any one puzzle counts.

Islands with big numbers and few neighbours are the place to start: an 8 needs double bridges in all four directions, and a 6 with three neighbours does too. Islands with a 1 next to another 1 cannot join each other, since that pair would be cut off. The extra large grids are long, careful solves.

PuzzleMadness is a British puzzle site with dozens of daily puzzle types in the browser, from many sudoku variants to logic grids such as Nurikabe, Hashi and Slitherlink. It is free to play and carries ads. A free account keeps track of the puzzles you have finished and puts your name on the leaderboards, and the badges next to usernames mark how many puzzles a player has completed.

How to play Hashi (PuzzleMadness)

  1. Open the day's Hashi page and choose Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large or Mixed.
  2. Draw a bridge by dragging or clicking between two islands in a straight line; do it again for a double bridge.
  3. Give each island exactly as many bridges as its number, with no crossings.
  4. Connect all islands into one network; the site marks the puzzle solved.

Tips

  • An island whose number is twice its count of neighbours needs double bridges to all of them.
  • Two 1s side by side, or two 2s joined by a double bridge, would form a closed group: avoid it.
  • Corner islands have only two directions, so their bridges are often forced.

Questions

How many bridges can join two islands?

One or two, never more, and bridges cannot cross each other.

When does the PuzzleMadness Hashi change?

Once a day: each puzzle is dated, and the daily page opens the current day's grid. The site does not say at what time the new one appears.

Is PuzzleMadness Hashi free?

Yes. You can play without an account; the site shows ads. A free account records which puzzles you have finished and enters your scores on the leaderboards.

Where can I find the answers?

PuzzleMadness does not publish solutions. It tells you when your grid is complete and correct, and when you have made a mistake.

Can I play earlier Hashi puzzles?

Yes, older puzzles are in the archive, and puzzles completed on any day count toward that month's leaderboard.
