The WhichWay.is card: a cartoon globe with a beam of light and daily geography game

WhichWay.is is a daily geography game about direction. Your starting country is lit up on a 3D globe, a target country is named, and you drag a beam the way you think it lies. Ten rounds make a Daily Challenge that is the same for everyone, scored by how close each bearing is.

About WhichWay.is

WhichWay.is, by the small studio Eyospace, tests something most map games skip: knowing which way a place is. Each round highlights your current country on a 3D globe and names a target country. You drag a beam from where you are in the direction you think the target lies and submit.

Scoring rewards accuracy. A perfect aim earns 100 coins, a very near one 50, a broadly right direction 10, and a miss nothing. A game is ten rounds, and the Daily Challenge gives everyone the same ten, so scores can be compared on the global leaderboard and with friends. A calendar lets you replay past days.

Outside the daily, Endless mode keeps going until your lives run out and adds twists such as a clock, a locked zoom, no borders or clouds over the map. The game runs in the browser and as apps for iPhone and Android, in about ten languages.

It suits geography fans who know the shapes on the map but want to test their sense of bearing across the globe.

How to play WhichWay.is

  1. Start the Daily Challenge; your country is highlighted on the globe.
  2. Read the name of the target country.
  3. Drag the beam in the direction you think it lies.
  4. Submit to see how close you were and the coins you earned.
  5. Play all ten rounds and compare your score on the leaderboard.

Tips

  • Get your bearings by continent or ocean first, then fine-tune the angle.
  • Remember the globe is round: the shortest way can cross a pole.
  • Replay past days from the calendar to practise.
