Capitrail (GuessDash)

Chain five bearings between capitals, each starting where the last one landed.

Every day: A daily trail of five capitals, the same for everyone, starting from one capital (Brazzaville on 2 October 2026); each round you set a bearing and a distance toward the next capital, starting from where your last guess landed. New puzzle: Midnight in the Netherlands (GuessDash renews its games by the date in Europe/Amsterdam).

The Capitrail card from GuessDash: the title with a Trail tag and the line Chain five capital bearings from your last landing, beside a drawing of a zigzag route with a compass

Capitrail is a GuessDash navigation game. You start in one capital and aim at the next by setting a compass bearing and a distance. The twist is that each new round starts from where your previous guess landed, not from the real capital, so early misses carry through the trail.

About Capitrail (GuessDash)

Capitrail chains five rounds of aiming into one trail across the globe. The day's board starts you in a capital, such as Brazzaville, and names a capital to navigate to. You set the starting bearing toward it and estimate the distance in kilometres or miles, and your two answers make a landing point on the map.

The next round does not reset you to the real capital. It starts from your landing point, labelled You landed at, and asks you to find the next capital from there. A good guess makes the next leg easy to judge; a poor one leaves you somewhere unfamiliar, and you have to work out the direction from a spot you may not know well. Each round is scored, and a chart shows how other players scored on the same leg.

It sits beside Capitalibrate, where every round starts fresh from a capital, as part of the more than twenty GuessDash dailies that renew together each day. No account is needed to play.

How to play Capitrail (GuessDash)

  1. Read where you start and which capital to navigate to.
  2. Set the starting bearing toward the target, with 0 degrees as north.
  3. Estimate the distance and submit your guess.
  4. See your landing point and score; the next round starts from that point.
  5. Finish all five legs and compare your round scores with other players.

Tips

  • Over long distances the shortest route bends toward the poles, so the starting bearing is not the straight line on a flat map.
  • After a big miss, find your landing point on the map before you aim again.
