Name the day's airport from nothing but its runways.

Every day: A new airport every day in Daily (familiar major airports) and in Hard, the same for every player: name it from its runway layout in five guesses, with more of the map revealed after each miss. New puzzle: Once a day (a new Daily and Hard puzzle each day).

Airfield's Daily puzzle: two parallel runways drawn on a blank background above an airport search box, with Daily, Hard and Unlimited tabs

Airfield shows the runways of a real airport, drawn on a blank background, and asks which airport it is. Each wrong guess or skip reveals more: taxiways and terminals, then the surrounding area, the continent and finally the country. You have five guesses.

About Airfield (FlightQ)

Airfield is one of FlightQ's daily aviation and geography games. It starts with the bare runways of the day's airport, drawn north-up: their number, direction and arrangement are your first clue, such as two long parallel strips running north-east.

If you miss or skip, the next clue adds airport detail like taxiways and terminals; the third shows the surroundings, such as water, roads and buildings; the fourth names the continent and the fifth the country. You search by airport name, city, IATA code or ICAO code, and after a wrong guess an arrow and a distance show where the answer lies from your guess.

There are two daily puzzles: Daily, which starts with familiar major airports, and Hard, which draws from a more challenging set. Unlimited serves random airports for practice without XP. Past dailies can be browsed, with older days for premium members, who also play without ads.

How to play Airfield (FlightQ)

  1. Open Airfield on flightq.app and choose Daily or Hard.
  2. Study the runways: how many, which way they point and how they are arranged.
  3. Search for an airport by name, city, IATA or ICAO code and submit a guess, or skip.
  4. After a miss, use the arrow, the distance and the newly revealed map detail.
  5. Find it within five guesses; the last clues give the continent and the country.

Tips

  • Parallel runways usually mean a large hub; crossing runways are common at older airports.
  • Use the arrow and distance from your first guess to jump to the right region.
  • The surrounding-area clue often shows a coastline or river that gives the city away.
  • Practise in Unlimited to learn the shapes of the big hubs.
