Strata (FlightQ)
Rate itName the city as its 3D map is rebuilt one layer at a time.
Every day: One mystery city a day, the same for every player, rebuilt as a 3D map that starts as bare terrain; a US + Canada pool and a Worldwide pool. New puzzle: Once a day.

Strata is a daily city-guessing game on FlightQ. Each day's city starts as bare 3D terrain, and every wrong guess adds a layer (weather, water, roads, then buildings) until you can name it within five guesses.
About Strata (FlightQ)
Strata is one of the daily geography games on FlightQ. Instead of clues or a street photo, it shows a real city as an interactive 3D model seen from above, built from elevation and map data, and strips it back to the shape of the land.
You have five guesses. The first view is topography alone: hills, valleys, coastline and the city's footprint. Each miss tells you how far your guess was from the answer and peels on the next layer: the local climate, then rivers, lakes and shoreline, then the road grid and highways, and last the buildings with their real footprints and heights. By the final layer the skyline usually gives the city away.
You can guess from about 5,800 cities worldwide, but each day's answer comes from a pool of about 450 well-known ones. Two daily modes run side by side: US + Canada for a gentler map and Worldwide for the full challenge. Every daily is free with no account; FlightQ Premium adds unlimited practice, stats and no ads.
It suits players who know what cities look like from the air and want a map daily that rewards reading terrain rather than trivia.
How to play Strata (FlightQ)
- Open Strata and choose the US + Canada or Worldwide puzzle.
- Study the bare terrain: elevation, coast and the city's footprint.
- Type a city name and pick it from the list.
- After a miss, read how far off you were and look at the new layer.
- Name the city within five guesses to keep your streak.
Tips
- Coastlines and river bends are usually the strongest early clue.
- Use the distance after each miss to narrow the region before the roads appear.
- The search accepts former names such as Bombay or Saigon and abbreviations like St.
