Radius round 1 of 5: an unlabelled world map with 'Porto' to find and a panel of circle sizes from 932 mi for 1 point to 16 mi for 10 points

Radius is a daily city-finding game on FlightQ. Each day gives five city names; for each you choose a circle size, place it on an unlabelled world map and score if it touches the city limits, with smaller circles worth more.

About Radius

Radius is one of the daily geography games on FlightQ. The map shows coastlines and borders but no city names, and each day's puzzle asks you to find the same five cities as everyone else, in the same order.

The twist is the circle. Before you lock in a guess you pick its size: a 932-mile circle earns 1 point, 311 miles earns 3, 62 miles earns 6 and 16 miles earns 10. Any overlap with the city's outlined boundary counts as a hit, so a wide circle can rescue a city you only half know, while a tight one pays off for a place you are sure of. A miss scores nothing, and the best day is 50.

Because cities have area, the game scores against their real limits rather than a single centre point, and the reveal names the boundary it used. You can share a spoiler-free result that shows your five circles. Today's and yesterday's puzzles are free; older days in the archive need FlightQ Premium.

It suits map players who know roughly where a city is but like being rewarded for precision when they are confident.

How to play Radius

  1. Open Radius on FlightQ and read the first city name.
  2. Choose a circle size, from 932 miles for 1 point to 16 miles for 10 points.
  3. Tap the map to place the circle, then drag and zoom to adjust it.
  4. Press Lock it in: the city limits appear and any touch scores the points.
  5. Find all five cities for a score out of 50 and share the result.

Tips

  • Use the biggest circle only for cities you barely know; a sure answer is worth taking the 16-mile circle.
  • Zoom in before locking a small circle: coastlines and rivers help place it.
  • Touching the city limits is enough, so aim for the middle of the city's area rather than its exact centre.
