MapTrotter

Drop a pin on the world map as close to each city as you can, with one shared daily run.

Every day: One shared daily run, the same for every player: a series of cities (the store screenshot shows ten) to pin on the world map, scored on distance and speed, with a score grid to share. New puzzle: Once a day (the listing does not state the time).

MapTrotter's daily run, city 1 of 10: Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on a world map without borders

MapTrotter is an iPhone geography game: you see a city name and a world map and have a few seconds to drop a pin on it. The nearer and faster, the more points. Besides a 100-level campaign there is a daily challenge, one run that is the same for every player, with a score grid to share.

About MapTrotter

Each MapTrotter round shows the name of a city and a world map. You pinch and zoom, drop your pin, and see how many kilometres off you landed. A round is worth up to 3,000 points, doubled by a time bonus if you are quick, and you can spend points on a hint or a hot and cold peek when stuck.

The daily challenge is one run a day, the same for every player, so friends can compare scores; the store screenshot of it shows a run of ten cities. At the end you can share your score grid.

The campaign has 100 levels of rising difficulty. It starts with famous capitals on a map with country borders, then takes the borders away and leaves only coastlines, and later moves on to world cities and a tier of peaks and lakes such as Aconcagua and the Aral Sea, with shorter timers, streak bonuses and surprise flag rounds. Other modes include Countries, where you find the country instead of the city; What's this place?, where you see a pin and name the place; Sudden death, where one miss ends it; and live duels, where friends race the same rounds and see all the pins side by side.

The campaign, the daily and the solo modes work offline; duels need a connection. MapTrotter is made by Artur Myszka and came out in August 2026.

Tips

  • Speed doubles your points, so commit to a region quickly and fine-tune with a zoom.
  • Use rivers, coastlines and borders as anchors for inland cities.
  • Hints cost points, so save them for cities you have never heard of.
  • Practise the borderless levels in the campaign: they train you to place cities by coastline alone.
