Miles Off is a geography game on a rotatable 3D globe with no borders or labels. Its free Daily Challenge gives everyone the same five places each day; you spin, zoom and drop a pin, and your score depends on how close you were and how fast.

About Miles Off

Miles Off shows you a place name (a capital, a river, a desert, a strait) and gives you a few seconds to click where it is on a 3D globe. There are no labelled borders and no marked cities, just land, water and your memory.

The Daily Challenge is five places with one shot each, and the site says it is the same round the whole world is playing that day. It takes around four minutes and resets at your local midnight, and each daily carries a number. Scoring falls away fast with distance: inside 30 km counts as a direct hit, and points roughly halve for every 450 km beyond that. Speed multiplies what your accuracy earned rather than adding to it, so a fast pin on the wrong continent is worth little. A round can earn up to 6,000 points.

Other free modes include a Clue Round (a description with no names), a Picture Round (a photo with no label) and a twelve-round Full Expedition scored into an Explorer IQ. With an account you can play Category Challenges for continents, countries or rivers, a Live Showdown twice a day, and head-to-head links with friends.

It suits players of Globle and Worldle who want to test whether they really know where things are.

How to play Miles Off

  1. Open miles-off.com and choose the Daily Challenge.
  2. Read the place name, then spin and zoom the globe to find it.
  3. Drop your pin before the clock runs out; an arc shows how far off you were.
  4. Play all five places and compare your total on the leaderboard.

Tips

  • Get the continent right before worrying about speed: a fast wrong pin scores almost nothing.
  • Rivers and deserts are long, so aim for the middle of the feature you picture.
  • Practise with the Clue and Picture rounds once the daily is done.
