Around Here Somewhere turns Street View into a daily search. Each day there is one target to find, the same for every player. Depending on the day you tap inside an outline on the map to drop in, tap anywhere on the world map, or start from a fixed spot where you have to walk rather than drop. From there you look around and follow the walk arrows like any Street View visit, hunting for the thing the puzzle asks for.

When you think you have found it, you mark it and the game checks your view against the answer. Your result records how long you took and how far you walked, and the end screen calls out the fastest time, the longest route and the first player to finish that day. Friends can see where you found it once they have played themselves, so the shared result does not give the spot away.

The site keeps an archive of previous puzzles, and the keyboard works too: arrow keys to look around, plus and minus to zoom, and Enter to drop in at the centre of the map. It needs a browser with WebGL for the Street View panoramas.

It suits players who like GeoGuessr-style wandering but want a goal to search for rather than a place to name.

4. When the target is in view, mark it to check your find.

Tips

• Study the outline on the map before dropping in; the target is somewhere inside it.
• Look for main roads and landmarks first, then work through side streets.
• Hold Shift with the arrow keys for bigger turns when scanning a junction.
• If a drop lands with no Street View, try a road you can see on the map.
