WhereTaken (pin on the map)
Pin the day's five photos on the world map.
Every day: Five photos a day, the same for everyone: drop a pin on the world map where each was taken, scored up to 200 points a photo by distance, 1,000 in all. New puzzle: Midnight, local time of your device (stated in the game's FAQ).

WhereTaken is Teuteuf's daily photo location game: five pictures a day, and for each you drop a pin where you think it was taken. The closer you are, the more points, up to 1,000 for the day; hints and an archive back to October 2024 are there too.
About WhereTaken (pin on the map)
WhereTaken comes from Teuteuf, the studio behind Worldle and WhenTaken, and it is the location half of WhenTaken on its own. Each day you get five photographs, the same for everyone, and for each one you place a pin on a world map. There is no year to guess, only the place.
Scoring is by distance in brackets. A pin within 100 km earns 190 to 200 points, within 500 km 170 to 190, and the points fall away more slowly the farther out you are, so a guess on the right continent still scores. Five rounds make a maximum of 1,000 points. A lightbulb on each photo opens hints if you want help, and the share text shows your rounds as emoji.
The archive holds every daily game since 28 October 2024, and there are community-made games rated by players. Only the daily counts toward your stats. Teuteuf also runs an older WhereTaken Classic, where you name the country of a single photo; this is the newer map version.
It suits players of GeoGuessr who want a short daily round, and anyone who likes reading the clues in a photo: road signs, which side of the road cars drive on, architecture and plants.
How to play WhereTaken (pin on the map)
- Open WhereTaken and look at the first of the day's five photos.
- Drop a pin on the world map where you think it was taken; open a hint if you need one.
- See the real location and your points for the round.
- Repeat for all five photos and share your total out of 1,000.
Tips
- Check which side of the road the traffic drives on; it rules out much of the world at once.
- Signs, number plates and building styles narrow a country faster than landscape.
- A pin in the middle of the likely region scores better on average than a bold guess at one corner.
