Each clue folds the world map in half until one country is left.

Mapfold on the FlightQ app: Question 1, Its capital lies farther south than Mumbai, 232 countries standing, over a world map to tap

Mapfold hides one country and shows a fact about it that rules out about half the world, such as Its capital lies farther south than Mumbai. Tap a country to guess; a miss folds the ruled-out part of the map away and reveals the next fact. Fewer guesses score better, and a wrong tap among the last two loses the day.

About Mapfold (FlightQ)

Mapfold is FlightQ's daily country hunt. Every question is a real fact about the hidden country, generated each day to split the remaining candidates as close to half as possible: a hemisphere, a population line, a coastline, a size. A counter shows how many countries are still standing, 232 at the start.

You guess by tapping a country on the map and confirming. A miss crosses that country off, folds the ruled-out half of the map away and reveals the next question, so the live zone keeps shrinking. Your guess count is your whole score. Down to the last two candidates, one wrong guess loses the day.

The skill is knowing exactly which countries each fact removes, and spending early guesses on countries in the middle of the live zone so each fold removes the most map. Unlike silhouette or hotter-colder country games, Mapfold deals only in facts, with the map keeping track. It is free with ads, on the web and in the FlightQ apps.

How to play Mapfold (FlightQ)

  1. Open Mapfold on flightq.app and read the first question.
  2. Tap the country you think it is and confirm.
  3. A miss crosses it off and folds away the half of the map the facts rule out.
  4. Read the next question and keep narrowing the live zone.
  5. Tap the right country to win; among the last two, a wrong tap ends the day.

Tips

  • Do not try to win on the first guess: aim misses at the middle of the live zone to unlock the most useful folds.
  • Keep track of what each fact removes, such as landlocked countries after a coastline question.
  • Wait until the map is small before committing.
  • Population and capital-latitude facts are easy to misjudge: check a reference country you know.
