Today's daily mission on a computer: signal 1 of 5 from the Aquonix lab, a waterfall riddle above the globe, with hint buttons below

UFO Atlas is a free geography riddle game in the browser, in French and English. It used to be called GeoGuardians. Three alien scientists describe real places in their own odd way, and you find each one by launching pods at a globe. A halo tells you if you are getting warmer and an arrow points the way. The "Daily mission" gives everyone the same 5 places, with one try a day.

About UFO Atlas

UFO Atlas is a solo project by 0n3Up from France. It first came out on itch.io in September 2026 as GeoGuardians and now lives at playufoatlas.com under its new name, "An Alien's Guide to Earth".

A saucer in orbit picks up signals from Earth. Three scientists on board read them, each from a lab with its own patch. Aquonix of the Hydro lab handles oceans, rivers, lakes and waterfalls. Pyrakos of the Pyro lab takes volcanoes, deserts and "things that glow at night". Terragor of the Litho lab covers monuments, mountains, canyons and countries. The game says the facts are always true and only the alien reading of them goes wrong. Today's first riddle came from Aquonix: "I am three roaring cataracts where three million liters of water plunge every second."

You spin the globe, tap to aim and launch a pod. A miss leaves a halo that says whether you are warm or cold, and an arrow gives the direction. Each place allows three pods. If you are stuck you can buy help at a cost in points: names on the globe for 250, the continent for 500, a photo for 750. When you land on the place it is revealed with a fact card and a postcard for your collection. Fewer pods and a closer landing score more.

The "Daily mission" is 5 places, the same for everyone, and the server allows one try. At the end a grid of coloured squares, one per place, sums up how you did, with your grade and streak, ready to share. A countdown shows when the next mission arrives.

The bank holds 612 places in 196 countries, spread over 10 modes. Alone you can play Classic (3 places, 3 pods each), Perfect (one pod per place), French departements, US states, or countries and capitals. With others there are private lobbies, a lives mode where the farthest pod loses a life, a five-round Time Attack, and a Twitch mode that sets a streamer against their chat with an OBS overlay.

The game is free with "sans publicité" (no ads). You can play straight away as a guest. A free account through Google, Discord, Twitch or e-mail keeps progress across devices and opens multiplayer. Players can back the project on Ko-fi, which gives no edge in play. The site says it is playable from age 6 and open to ages 13 and up, and it runs in the browser on phone, tablet and computer.

How to play UFO Atlas

  1. Open UFO Atlas, skip the tutorial, then open the onboard computer and choose "Daily mission".
  2. Read the riddle. The lab that sent it hints at the kind of place: water, fire or rock.
  3. Spin the globe, tap where you think the place is, and press "Launch the pod".
  4. If you miss, read the halo for warmer or colder and follow the arrow. You have three pods per place.
  5. Stuck? Buy names on the globe, the continent or a photo, each for a cost in points.
  6. Finish all 5 places, then share your grid of coloured squares.

Tips

  • Use the lab as a first filter. A riddle from Aquonix is about water, so look at coasts, rivers and lakes.
  • Make your first pod a broad guess. The arrow from a miss narrows things down fast.
  • The names hint costs the least, so try it before the continent or the photo.
  • Read the riddle for the true fact under the alien joke. The numbers in it are real.
